Arsenal vs Tottenham (EPL 2022/23)

In a Premier League weekend of rivalries, Arsenal and Tottenham get things underway with the first North London derby of the season on Saturday at 12.30pm (UK time).

The Gunners have made a blistering start to the 2022/23 campaign, with Mikel Arteta’s men currently atop the Premier League table having won six of their opening seven matches. Tottenham, likewise, are riding the crest of an early-season wave, and are firmly in Arsenal’s rearview mirror. Under Antonio Conte, Spurs are unbeaten and only a point adrift of their eternal local rivals.

There is growing optimism for the hosts that Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey are all going to be fit for this contest, giving Arteta a huge defensive and midfield boost. Emile Smith Rowe, Cedric Soares and Mohamed Elneny, though, are all set to sit this derby out.

Hugo Lloris sustained a thigh injury while on international duty with France and is now a doubt for this showdown, though he hasn’t been completely ruled out just yet. Summer recruit Fraser Forster will be waiting in the wings to receive the first-team nod if his team-mate is unavailable. There are also concerns for Ben Davies and Lucas Moura, while Dejan Kulusevski reportedly picked up a muscular issue while away with Sweden, though none are deemed serious and they could all make Saturday’s matchday squad.
