Chelsea vs Tottenham (EPL 2022/23)

It’s the first big London derby of the season on Kilamity as Spurs make the short trip across the capital to face Chelsea. Can Antonio Conte’s side maintain their confident start?

Tottenham impressed on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, putting four past a beleaguered Southampton. The Saints took the lead through James Ward-Prowse but Spurs responded in emphatic style, with Dejan Kulusevski putting the ball on a plate for Ryan Sessegnon’s equaliser, before rounding things off himself with a delightful fourth after Eric Dier’s header and a calamitous own goal.

Antonio Conte has named an unchanged starting line-up this afternoon, with none of the summer signings included from the off. Richarlison gets a spot on the bench for the first time having served his one-match suspension last weekend.

Chelsea took all three points at Goodison Park on Saturday but Thomas Tuchel’s side didn’t exactly look convincing against an Everton team that was forced to play without a recognised striker. It took a Jorginho penalty to secure the win after Abdoulaye Doucoure fouled Ben Chilwell in first-half stoppage time, although Raheem Sterling did show signs of what he’s capable of. Can the Blues raise their game for this tough early season encounter?

Tuchel has made two changes to the side that won on Merseyside, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek getting the nod in midfield and Marc Cucurella making his full debut after his big-money move from Brighton. Sterling, Mount and Havertz continue in the front three.
