Inter Milan are set to host Bayern Munich in a Champions League showdown at the San Siro on Wednesday evening (8pm, UK time).
The sides have met on seven previous occasions in European competition, with both sides sharing three victories apiece (the other ending in a draw).
Momentum has escaped Inter just when they needed it. Simone Inzaghi’s men have lost two of their last three Serie A matches heading into this week’s Champions League group stage opener.
The hosts will be missing reserve goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão, left-back Dalbert and Romelu Lukaku who among players to have scored five or more goals for Inter in the Champions League, only Adriano (125) and Julio Cruz (132) have a better minutes per goal ratio for the club than him (142).
Lautaro Martínez and Joaquín Correa are expected to continue uptop for Inter, though, Edin Dzeko — who came off the bench to score against city rivals Milan last time out — is pushing for a start. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Robin Gosens could also feature.
