Zurich vs Arsenal (UEL 2022/23)

ARSENAL return to the European stage tonight in Switzerland hoping to bounce back from a painful loss at Manchester United on Sunday.

The Gunners travel to Switzerland to take on a FC Zurich side who don’t appear to value the notion of home advantage. The game will be played at St Gallen because their ground is hosting the Diamond League athletics event in a few days.

This is the same team who gave up home advantage in the play-off round too against Hearts because of a music concert on their ground. The result was a dismal attendance of only 5,347 with over 1,000 of those from Scotland. A visit from Arsenal will attract more, but it’s a strange situation and can’t help.

Zurich ran away with the Swiss League last season, but got off to a quite dreadful start under former Austria manager Franco Foda when they were knocked out of the Champions League by Qarabag

And their league form has been atrocious – they are second bottom after just two points from seven games, which has yielded no wins.
