It is no news that the ‘Essence’ hit maker loves his mom so much and has never hidden it. Here are some instances where he has mentioned or alluded to his mother in his music lyrics:

Joy from the “Ayo” album (2014)

In this song, Wizkid dedicates the entire song to his mother. He sings about the struggles his mother went through to raise him and his siblings, expressing his deep appreciation for her sacrifices.

“Mummy Mi” also from the “Ayo” album (2014)

This song is an outright tribute to his mother. The title itself translates to “My Mummy” in English. He praises her and sings about his wish to buy her everything she desires.

“Love My Baby” from the “Superstar” album (2011)

In one of the lines, Wizkid says, “I told my mum I wanna see you happy, I wanna see you happy.” Though the song is not entirely about his mother, this line showcases his deep love and concern for her happiness.

Pakurumo

On his 2011 party-starter ‘Pakurumo’, Wizkid applauded his mother Mrs. J.M. Balogun when rolling out accolades to dignitaries. The song was the first of several times the singer would mention his mother.

Ojuelegba

In 2015, Wizkid’s release of ‘Ojuelegba’ created a massive buzz across the country. The song elevated Afrobeat to unprecedented heights, especially after collaborations with Drake and Skepta. Wizkid’s success was fueled by his mother’s prayers and the guiding words she gave him.
