Newcastle United were certainly very competitive in what turned out to be a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in their UEFA Champions League encounter at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday evening.
Niclas Fullkrug opened the scoring for the hosts in the 26th minute, and Dortmund did not add further to their tally until 11 minutes from time as Julian Brandt doubled their advantage.
