The player will have surgery in the coming days after which a new medical update will be released.

Gavi was injured on international duty for Spain in the final game of the team’s European Championship qualifying group against Georgia. The Barça midfielder was forced off after just 26 minutes of the encounter.

This season Gavi has made 15 appearances for Barça, 13 in the starting XI. The midfielder has scored against Villarreal in the league and Royal Antwerp in the Champions League and he has also provided one assist.

Since Gavi made his first team debut at the age of 17 in August 2021 against Getafe, the midfielder has made 111 appearances, 89 as a starter and has scored seven goals and provided 12 assists.

With Barça he has won the league title, in 2022/23, and the Spanish Super Cup in the same season.

On an individual level, Gavi also won the Golden Boy award in 2022.

Gavi’s injury is a major setback, but it is not career-ending. He is still young and has plenty of time to recover.

He will need to work hard on his rehab, and he will need to be patient. But he should be able to make a full recovery and return to his best form.

This is a sad day for Barcelona and Gavi, but there is still hope for both of them.
