Burnley vs Chelsea (EPL 2021/22)

Chelsea will be looking to stay in control of the race for the Premier League’s top four when they travel to face Burnley.

Thomas Tuchel’s side played just one Premier League match last month, preoccupied by the Club World Cup and EFL Cup final and, as a result, have seen the gap between themselves in third and fourth-placed Manchester United cut to three points (though they do have two games in hand). Burnley, meanwhile, sit on the edge of the relegation zone, just one point behind 17th-placed Everton as they continue their quest for Premier League safety.

Sean Dyche has revealed Ben Mee’s knee injury is not as serious as first feared and he isn’t completely ruled out of this weekend’s game, though it may be too much of a risk to start the centre-back. Matej Vydra, Dale Stephens, Erik Pieters and Johann Berg Gudmundsson are all still out, however.

Chelsea will be hoping the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah, Hakim Ziyech and Andreas Christensen are available for selection this weekend having missed the 3-2 win over Luton through injuries. The absences meant Ruben Loftus-Cheek had to play at centre-back, but Thiago Silva should reclaim his place in the back three after being rested.
