Let’s see what effect those substitutions have. The visitors pieced together a flowing attack, resulting in a low ball being played toward the far post. There, Wissam Ben Yedder slid in and hit the woodwork. Aaron Ramsdale was then unable to move out of the way of the rebound, with the ball trickling just wide of the target. So, so close. Youssouf Fofana is having a superb evening out there. He is thought to have previously been on Arsenal’s radar and it is clear to see why.
As we approach half-time, his goal is the difference between these two teams. Monaco have certainly threatened with their dead balls so far. Golovin stepped up to take their latest free-kick and sent the cross into the box. Maripan was afforded a free header but he just couldn’t muster up enough contact on it. That was a big chance for the visitors to double their lead.
