Bournemouth vs Manchester United‘s match started with full attacking forces. Sancho is playing in front of the away end and they are having to urge him to accelerate every now and then. Martial has been quite purposeful on the ball, though as I type that he spoons one well over. Bruno Fernandes has been poor; very careless with the ball and offering little in the final third.
It’s a tight pitch here and there are times where United players are seeking more space only to find little room for manoeuvre. Victor Lindelof has been good at both ends. He’s just flicked away one cross with his head amid a decent spell of pressure from Bournemouth, who’ve survived United’s dominant spell and are starting to ask questions of them. Raphael Varane has just blocked an attempt from Christie.

Man United will be back in the Champions League by 5pm as things stand, with Liverpool losing at home to Aston Villa. Ten Hag’s side have had a warning here, with Solanke ghosting between Lindelof and Varane. His touch was poor but he kept it alive and got a shot away, which De Gea saved well. United fans have been signing songs about Phil Jones but they need their team to go and put this match to bed.
Bournemouth were bright for the first five minutes or so of this game but they’ve barely mustered a threat since and look like the very definition of a team who have achieved their aims for the season. Man United are in total control, dominating possession and playing the game in the opposition half. They’d like another goal to assert their dominance, but it’s comfortable at the moment.
