Brentford vs Manchester City‘s match started with full attacking forces. Julian Alvarez gets down the left, but his dangerous cross is cleared. When it comes out, Kyle Walker’s good cross is glanced just wide by the Argentine. City’s best chance.
Good work from Riyad Mahrez to set up Sergio Gomez on the edge of the box. He watches it all the way, but doesn’t connect cleanly and the shot is well wide. Another long throw, this time from the other side, isn’t dealt with and Janelt has two goes at a shot. The first is blocked and the second is volleyed over the bar. Manchester City have been comfortable in the possession, but Brentford have had the better chances and arguably look more like scoring.

A long throw isn’t dealt with by City. Ben Mee shoots on the turn, and Ederson does well to beat it away. That was travelling. Both of these sides looking dangerous with a physical threat when they go forward, but both teams also look strong defensively. They are cancelling each other other so far but there is plenty of time for a bit of inspiration or a mistake.
Laporte has played really well, in particular watching the pace of Onyeka but only committing at the vital moment and not overstretching himself. It is quite mad to think that Laporte is fifth choice in the centre-backs order at the minute, but that is the strength of the squad.
