Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Ruger, has suggested that the fans of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, contributed to his problems as much as his former record label, Marlian Music did.
Mohbad died last month under suspicious conditions, leading the Nigerian police force to investigate his death.
Ruger in a recent interview on ‘Afrobeats Podcast’ with UK-based media personality, Adesope Olajide, shared his thoughts on the circumstances relating to Mohbad’s tragic demise.

He blamed fans for contributing to Mohbad’s issues, asserting that they supported him only because he identified as a Marlian. However, when he parted ways with the record label, they abandoned him.
The ‘Asiwaju’ crooner asked the late artist’s fans, especially those upset about his death, to reflect on their actions. He believes they share some blame because they stopped supporting his music, adding to his struggles.
In his words, “I don’t know whether the label was Mohbad’s problem or not. I just want you all to know, not only his label was his problem, the fans were his problem too; the fans added to it. Because as soon as he left the label, I don’t think people continued to listen to him anymore.”
