Jose Peseiro sets date for release of Super Eagles 2023 AFCON provisional list

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has announced that he will release the provisional list of players for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) latest on December 14th.

As per the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Nigeria and the other 23 participating nations must submit their provisional lists by the specified date.

CAF has also expanded the squad size for the 2023 AFCON finals, allowing each team to name a maximum of 27 players, an increase from the usual 23.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will have until January 3, 2024, to finalize their roster for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The team, led by manager Jose Peseiro, will face off against Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau in Group A of the competition.

The 2024 AFCON will take place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

Nigeria will be hoping to make a strong showing in the tournament, having finished third in the 2019 edition.

The Super Eagles’ final roster will consist of 23 players, and Peseiro is expected to name a strong squad that includes both domestic and international stars.

The team will be looking to build on their impressive qualifying campaign, where they won five out of their six matches.
