Hosts Juventus are already out of the Champions League in what has been a disastrous campaign for the Old Lady, winning just three points out of a possible 15 so far, sitting eight behind second-placed Benfica.
Now all that is left for Juventus is to save face with qualification for the Europa League knockout round playoffs. In order to do that, Juventus will need to at least match Maccabi Haifa’s result against Benfica.
Unlike some clubs whose performances domestically and in the Champions League have been night and day, 2022/23 has been a season of overall struggle for Juventus. Massimiliano Allegri’s side are currently seventh in Serie A, already 10 points behind early league leaders Napoli. Then, of course, there is the Champions League in which they have lost four matches in the group stage, as many as they had lost in the previous four group stages combined.
