Senator Lola Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Kwara South has replaced David Umahi as Deputy Leader of the Senate
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced the emergence of Ashiru in his new position during plenary on Wednesday.
Recall Kilamity reported that Umahi who represented Ebonyi South Senatorial District resigned from the senate after taking appointment as the Minister of Works under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ashiru, who represents Kwara North in the red chamber was previously the Deputy Whip of the Senate.
His former position as the deputy whip has now been taken over by Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Eebonyi North.
The appointments were made only a day after the Chief Whip, Ali Ndume, complained that the legislative proceedings in the upper chamber since the beginning of the 10th senate were not in conformity with its rules and regulations.
