Netherlands vs Ecuador (FIFA World Cup 2022)

Ecuador’s veteran striker Enner Valencia, who scored twice on the opening day of the World Cup, was included in their lineup against the Netherlands for Friday’s clash of the Group A joint leaders.

Ecuador made one change with Jackson Porozo replacing Romario Ibarra in defence, while the Dutch made three changes but again kept striker Memphis Depay on the bench as he continued his recovery from a hamstring injury and is expected to be a second-half impact player.

In the last match, Senegal strikers Boulaye Dia, Famara Diedhiou and Bamba Dieng scored to secure a deserved 3-1 victory over Qatar and send the host nation to the brink of elimination following their World Cup Group A clash at Al Thumama Stadium on Friday. Senegal have three points from their two games and meet Ecuador in a final pool clash on Tuesday, while Qatar still have no points and will be out of the tournament if Netherlands beat Ecuador or that match ends in a draw later on Friday. In the early kickoff, in what was perceived as a must win match for them, Iran beat Wales 2-0 to grab three points and rise to the second spot in Group B.
