Nigeria’s Victor Boniface receives Europa League top scorer award for 2022/23 season (Video)

Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has received the Europa League top scorer award for the 2022/23 season.

Boniface shared the award with Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford.

Both players scored six goals in the European second-tier club competition last season.

The 22-year-old striker was presented with the award ahead of Bayer Leverkusen’s home clash against Qarabag at the BayArena on Thursday night.

Boniface’s outstanding performance earned him a summer transfer from Belgian Pro League club Union St Gilloise to Leverkusen.

In three appearances for Die Werkself this season in Europa League, the Nigerian striker has two goals and an assist.

The 22-year-old is the first Nigerian player to win the Europa League top scorer award, and he is also the first player from Union Saint-Gilloise to win a European individual award.

Boniface’s achievement is a testament to his talent and hard work. He has overcome a number of challenges in his career, including a serious knee injury, to become one of the most promising strikers in Europe.

Boniface’s success is also a boost for Nigerian football. He is one of a number of talented young Nigerian players who are making their mark in Europe, and his achievement shows that there is a bright future for Nigerian football.
