From a historical perspective, the Dragons have faced Liverpool on eight previous occasions, with six of those coming in this particular competition. Porto come into this week’s latest encounter still looking for their first victory against the Reds having lost five times before with the remaining fixtures ending in a stalemate.
While those in attendance watching Atlético-Porto at the Metropolitano Stadium saw a draw being played out, those miles away in Merseyside witnessed another epic chapter in the Liverpool-Milan rivalry. Klopp’s men took an early lead before finding themselves behind at half-time.
The six-time European champions rallied after the break and ran out 3-2 winners. Incidentally, this will be the fifth time Liverpool will face Porto in the Champions League since Klopp became manager. They’ve won more games (3), scored more goals (11) and kept more clean sheets (3) against the Portuguese giants than any other opponent in this competition under the German.
