Real Madrid vs Sevilla (La Liga 2022/23)

Defending champions Real Madrid moved three points clear at the top of the table last weekend thanks to their 3-1 win over Barcelona in El Clasico and followed that up with a 3-0 win over relegation-battling Elche. Sevilla, meanwhile, languish in mid-table, with just two wins from their opening 10 matches, drawing four and losing four.

Wednesday’s win over Elche proved to be too soon for Thibaut Courtois following his back injury but the Belgian is expected to return ahead of the weekend and should replace Andriy Lunin in goal for Los Blancos. Dani Ceballos is the only other confirmed absentee, but with Carlo Ancelotti going surprisingly full-strength against Elche, the Italian tactician may opt to make a few changes.

Kike Salas will be unavailable for Sevilla following his red card in the 1-1 draw with Valencia on Wednesday, being sent off in the dying stages of the match having come on as a substitute. Salas was brought on to replace Tanguy Nianzou who came off with an injury but the defender is expected to be fit to return to the XI against Real Madrid.
