Saudi Arabia and Mexico square off at Lusail Iconic Stadium in their final Group C game this evening with both nations hoping to qualify for the knockout stages
The state-of-the-art 80,000-seater centrepiece will host this yearβs World Cup final on December 18, along with nine other matches across the tournament.
The design of Lusail Iconic Stadium, which will also host a last-16, quarter-final and semi-final match, reflects the vessels, bowels and other crafted art pieces found across the Arab and Islamic world during the rise of civilisation in the region. Inspiration for the stadium came from the light and shadow that characterises the βfanarβ, a traditional Arabic lantern.
After the tournament, the stadium will be transformed into a community space including shops, cafes, shops, sporting facilities and health clinics.
