Those in attendance are the Minister of Labour Simon Bako Lalong, Minister of State Hon. Nkeiruka Onyeajeocha and NSA Nuhu Ribadu.

Also in attendance are labour leaders led by TUC President, Festus Osifo, NLC Secretary General Emmanuel Ugboaja and other Labour leaders.

Recall that the NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, had declared a nationwide strike, demanding the arrest of the suspected thugs and their sponsors.

This comes days after the NLC president was attacked in Owerri, Imo State capital on November 1 when workers in the state staged a protest over unpaid salary.

Besides the brutalisation of the NLC President, there are other grievances that precipitated the strike.

They include outstanding salary arrears, unjust declaration of 11,000 workers as ghost employees, unsettled gratuities, and non-compliance with the N30,000 Minimum Wage Act.

Also, labour said the state declared 10,000 pensioners as ghost retirees.

This report is developing, more details will be shared on the Intel Region WhatsApp group as soon as possible.
