Malmo vs Chelsea (UCL 2021/22)

Chelsea face an away trip to Malmo in the Champions League on Tuesday at 5.45pm, looking to keep up the pressure on group-toppers Juventus.

The reigning European champions currently sit second in Group H, with Massimiliano Allegri’s Old Lady in the box seat having won all three of their games. Thomas Tuchel will be hoping to repeat their 4-0 demolition of bottom club Malmo from a fortnight ago in west London.

Malmo entered Group H of the Champions League not expected to cause much of a storm, and that is exactly what has happened thus far at the midway point of the first phase. Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side have lost all three of their matches so far without putting up much of a fight, with the Swedish outfit enduring the lowest expected goals total (0.99) among all teams in the Champions League this season, while they’re one of only three teams yet to score.

Chelsea meanwhile have been emphatic, having dispatched Malmo in the reverse fixture and Zenit Saint Petersburg in their curtain-raiser as European champions. A 1-0 defeat to Juventus in Turin remains the only blemish on their early Champions League CV, so Tuchel will be determined to ensure his side avoid a banana skin here and keep up the pressure on their Italian counterparts as they look to usurp the Old Lady for top spot in the group.
