The exact number of casualties and those injured during the accident has yet to be ascertained, likewise the cause of the accident.

NCoS, formerly known as the Nigerian Prison Service, is a government agency in charge of prisons across the country.

Confusion broke out in the area as a result of the incident, as commercial okada riders mobilized their colleagues to the area and caused temporary unrest.

The van was damaged by the mob and if not for the quick intervention of security agents, the situation would have turned bloody.

A combined security team of men of the Police and civil defense corps later moved the van away from the scene of the accident.

Efforts to reach the leaders of the commercial okada riders union in the state proved abortive.

Spokesman of the state Police Command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the development in a phone chat in Ilorin on Thursday.

But he could not confirm the number of casualties as at the time of filing this report.
