Como welcome Manchester United to the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Wednesday, with the Italian club looking to build on an impressive start to their first Champions League campaign. Cesc Fabregas has transformed Como’s fortunes, guiding them to fourth place in Serie A last season and securing European qualification for the first time in the club’s history. Their opening performances suggest they are determined to make the most of the opportunity.
COMO announced themselves with a remarkable 4-1 home victory over Leipzig before suffering their first European defeat, losing 3-2 at Feyenoord. Assane Diao gave the visitors an early lead in Rotterdam, but Feyenoord equalised just 127 seconds later. Anis Hadj Moussa subsequently put the Dutch side ahead, and an unfortunate own goal left Como with too much to do despite Tasos Douvikas scoring in stoppage time.
