Liverpool will be looking to preserve their 100% Champions League record when they welcome Villarreal to Anfield on Tuesday night. The Reds are one of nine teams in the league phase to have taken maximum points from their opening two games, having beaten Atletico Madrid at home before claiming a thrilling 6-3 win away at LASK Linz last midweek. While Andoni Iraolaβs side have been less convincing in the Premier League, Saturdayβs 2-1 win away at Brentford lifted them up to fifth in the table.
They will now look to carry that momentum into Europe and make it three Champions League wins on the spin when Villarreal visit Merseyside. The Yellow Submarine have taken three points from their opening two Champions League games, bouncing back from a 3-2 defeat away at Borussia Dortmund with a 3-1 win over Napoli last week.
