Manchester City welcome AEK Athens to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, looking to recover from a disappointing Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. Enzo Maresca’s side remain overwhelming favourites against opponents returning to Europe’s premier club competition for the first time since 2018/19.
City were three goals behind at half-time against PSG after Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha exposed their defensive weaknesses. Maresca responded with three substitutions at the interval, and City produced a much-improved second-half performance. Erling Haaland scored twice, while Ferran Torres missed a late penalty, but PSG eventually secured a 4-2 victory.
