Real Betis vs Barcelona ended in a fiery 5-2 victory for the Catalan giants as Hansi Flick’s side continued their perfect start to the La Liga season. Lamine Yamal lit up La Cartuja with a curling left-footed opener in the 10th minute before Rodri headed in a corner to make it 2-1 at halftime. After the break, Gabriel Jesus made it 3-1 from Yamal’s assist, only for Abde to pull one back two minutes later.
The game turned when Betis midfielder Facundo Bernal was shown a straight red card for headbutting Yamal just after Betis’ second goal. With the extra man, Barcelona took control as Eric Garcia tapped in from Pau Cubarsi’s knockdown and substitute Dani Olmo sealed the 5-2 win in the 81st minute. The victory equals Real Madrid’s 57-year record of nine straight wins to start a La Liga season and keeps Barcelona five points clear at the top ahead of next week’s El Clasico.
