Group J winners Argentina take on already-eliminated Jordan at the Dallas Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning in what is effectively a dead rubber. Argentina have already sewn up Group J thanks to two wins from two, thanks to more magic from Lionel Messi. The little magician rolled back the years with a terrific hat trick against Algeria in La Albicelesteβs opener, before a brace against Austria on MD2 sealed top spot with a game to spare.
Jordan were competitive on their World Cup debut, as they were level with Austria heading into the final quarter of an hour, but conceded an own goal and from the penalty spot to eventually lose 3-1. Nizar Al-Rashdan gave Jamal Sellamiβs side the lead in their crunch match with Algeria on MD2, but a couple of second-half goals gave Algeria all three points and confirmed Jordanβs premature exit from the competition.
